New York City Break. Part 2

RinkHello everyone! I can’t believe that it is March already, but I am happy that the sun is shining more often and it means that spring is coming :-).

As promised, today I am publishing the second part of my Travel diary, meanwhile the first one you could find here New York, New York. Part 1. Here I am sharing some ideas where to go, what to see and some nice places where to eat in NYC. The weather in February is unpredictable, the one day it could be very cold, while the other you may walk around without outwear. Therefore the best time to visit NYC is probably spring/ autumn, but if you are a real fan of this great city (like me) – weather doesn’t matter at all ;-).

Metropolitan museum of art – For those who are interested in art – this is place to be. Although it is not as famous as Louvre in Paris or Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, because the museum doesn’t have such an impressive permanent art collections, this is a great place to see and feel the art. We were lucky to catch up Michelangelo exhibition and see the paintings and other works of this Master.  Plan to spend there at least 2-3 hours, it is definitely worth visiting.

The Rink at Rockfeller Center – This is, of course, seasonal thing – don’t miss it! I have been there in February and it was one of the things I wanted to do – go ice skating in the middle of Manhattan. I could imagine how beautiful and magic this place looks like during the Christmas season with the decorated Christmas tree!    Rink1

Tour at NBC Studios  – in NBC Studios located in Rockfeller Plaza you will get behind the scenes access to the studios of favorite NBC programs – The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and others. The tour is very entertaining and also if you are not a television guru, it will be interesting for you to see the whole process. Also you could buy tickets to The Tonight Show online, but if it is sold out, ask for additional tickets in the info center in Rockfeller Plaza for the coming show. If someone with the ticket can’t come, you’ll have a chance to get in. I didn’t try it, but people say that the chances to get in are pretty high ;-).

Hudson Theatre Broadway – I love Theatre! Therefore I couldn’t miss this new play The Parisian Woman  written by Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Beau Willimon (“House of Cards”) and directed by Tony Award® winner Pam MacKinnon (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?). The play is an interpretation of political events after the 2016 election in the best tradition of “House of Cards” – dark humor, drama and personal life turmoil. Uma Thurman stars in The Parisian Woman along with Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama), Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings), Tony Award® nominee Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), and Tony Award® winner Blair Brown. It was a great evening! Highly recommend!

The Hudson Theatre is only one of the Theatres in Broadway, also there are theatres and performances outside Broadway, it means that in New York something interesting is happening all the time! Next time I would love to visit Metropolitan Opera – let me know if you have been there, I am sure they have an amazing performances!

Times Square – this place is probably the most popular meeting point in NYC and also every tourist have to make selfie here ;-). It is impressive, but I don’t like such crowded places. Anyway you have to see it, that’s it!

Grand Central Terminal – this is definitely more than traditional Central Station! Located in Midtown Manhattan this beautiful building both from inside and outside is part of NYC history. Grand Central Terminal is famous meeting place – you’ll always see people meeting at the information clock in the center of the main hall. In addition it is interesting photo shoot place, therefore bloggers, travellers and photo lovers like to make pictures here.

Taking into account that NYC is multicultural city – definitely visit different parts of the city to feel the cultural particularities of each part. China town, SOHO, Little Italy – located close to each other, they are absolutely different. My personal favorite is SOHO, next time I would love to stay there!

Where to eat

In my opinion the great place for breakfast is Pret-a-manger! I love their concept of healthy fresh food, organic coffee and quick service. Pret_a_manger

The other place I love is Le Pain Quotidien, perfect Cafe for lunch! I’ve already mentioned it in my previous blog post here ;-).

For dinner go to Le Bilboquet (French bistro style dining place) in upper east side of Manhattan and order their specialty – Poulet Cajun. This chicken is absolutely divine!!!

Have a great day everyone! Cheers!
