Why you need to introduce Vitamin C into your beauty routine

DSC_7641Hello beauty lovers!

It will be all about Vitamin C today. If you’ve ever searched for the top Vitamin C online, you would have seen SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic for sure. There are many people that are obsessed with this product and I decided to understand why.

First of all, let’s get clear why Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is so beneficial for our skin. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects against environmental aggressors. It is great anti-aging product that helps to brighten the skin and improve it complexion due to its important role in collagen synthesis.

Vitamin C sounds like a miracle beauty product, however the problem is that it is not stable in topical solutions – the light, the air, the temperature changes may cause Vitamin C to degrade and loose it properties very quickly.

Another concern is concentration of Vitamin C in the product. There are different solutions on the market ranging up to 30% Vitamin C concentration levels. Although the higher concentration may sound like it provides better results, the studies show that maximum absorption is achieved with 20% Vitamin C concentration in the product.

Vitamin C helps to decrease photodamage caused by the sun rays, however it is suggested to use broad spectrum SPF protection of at least factor 30 while using vitamin C products, because it may cause higher skin sensitivity to the UV sun rays. DSC_7647SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic is kind of a cult product that is well known and used for years by their most loyal customers. I started to use it 2,5 months ago and during the first 2 weeks I noticed a massive difference in the condition of my skin. It became brighter and smother just after a few applications. I don’t have lines or wrinkles to worry about right now thus I could not comment on that, but I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in my skin texture!

CE Ferulic is pricey, but I definitely recommend it to try, especially for those, who have uneven skin tone, pigmentation and aging signs. It is definitely worth every cent it costs!

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Ethoxydiglycol, Ascorbic Acid, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Laureth-23, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol, Triethanolamine, Ferulic Acid, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate.

Concentration: 15% Pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid), 1% Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol) and 0.5% Ferulic Acid.

SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic is a part of my morning skincare routine, I apply a few drops on my face and neck before serum and/or day cream, as a final step I use broad spectrum SPF – either SkinCeuticals SPF 50 or mineral sunscreen from Coola with SPF30.

DSC_7650This SkinCeuticals broad spectrum SPF came along with SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic that was a great offer because you have to use SPF afterwards anyway and SkinCeuticals products are quite expensive. I found out that SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial defence gives too much unnecessary shine to my combination skin, therefore I always use it with a powder. However if you skip a serum or moisturizing cream and apply SPF right after CE Ferulic, it will absorbs quicker and the shiny face effect will disappear after a few minutes. Therefore I reach for this cream on days when I’m having an easy morning routine 😉

Have you used Vitamin C topically? Do you have favorite brand that makes Vitamin C skincare products? Would love to know it, because the other Vitamin C products that I’ve tried before were not impressive at all…
